Hello everyone! This is David de Hilster and welcome to my new website. After working 40 years in industry, I am now “semi-retired” and entering a new stage of my life. This website reflects that change. Today, I am concentrating my creative efforts in three major areas: AI and NLP, my art, and my dissident science channel.
AI and NLP
Twenty-five years ago, Amnon and I co-authored our “dream programming language” called NLP++ for natural language processing (NLP), an area in computer science that concentrates on computers reading and understanding written text. With the severe limitations of today’s large language models like ChatGPT, industry and universities are now seriously taking a look at this computer programming language as way of creating trustworthy NLP. As a result, I have started a part-time job as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University in computer science, am co-authoring a book on NLP++, and leading a new project called the “NLP Blockchain” through the university. Exciting times ahead!
Art
For many years, I promised myself I would get back into art and this website reflects that objective. I have created a gallery of my past works that I have for sale and plan to start doing new art in near future. One of the great coincidences of my professorship at Northeastern University Miami is that it located in the heart of the world-famous Wynwood Art District. This has been very inspiring to me as an artist. I would love to have an art show at the university sometime in the coming years.
I will be adding more art as I go through more of my private collection so come back often to see more works in my gallery.
Dissident Science
Another promise I made myself is to restart my “Dissident Science” YouTube channel. Besides having many people bugging me to bet back on the air, I have come to the conclusion that I have a lot of unique things to say when it comes to science given my 30 years working with brilliant minds outside the mainstream. The channel is for anyone who likes science. Here is my new “trailer” for my channel

Welcome to the Best Stage in Life!
The last 5 years of my life have been the best professionally. And the next 5 years will be even better! I hope you enjoy my new website and return often to see more art and news. Here is another opportunity to subscribe to my art newsletter:
David de Hilster is a leader, author, and theoretician in the dissident science space. His favorite subjects are physics, cosmology, philosophy, and mathematics. It all started with David meeting physicist Dr. Ricardo Carezani in 1992. Thirty years later, David has become one of the foremost experts on physics outside of mainstream science.
Dr. Ricardo Carezani
In the early 1990s, a chance encounter with a man in Long Beach where David had his art studio and his wife’s clothes designing business, lead to David meeting Dr. Ricardo Carezani, a PHD in physics who showed Einstein wrong back in the 1940s.
Herman Leonard, world-famous photographer who took Carezanis portrait poses above with Ricardo and David in his phnotography studio in New Orleans
Soon after, David found himself reading through a stack of papers from Ricardo and eventually taking his work to TRW Space Park where David worked in the Artificial Intelligence group. He wrote the president of the company saying that he has in his possession an experiment that could potentially win a Nobel Prize. Three weeks later, David received a letter from one of the physicists stating that he could not find a flaw in Dr. Carezani’s paper showing fatal flaws in Einstein’s special relativity. With Dr. Carezani landing in the hospital with severe heart problems, David began earnestly typing all of Carney’s papers into digital documents to be published on the internet, something fairly new in the early 1990s. The result is this final website: https://autodynamics.org.
NPA
After digitizing Carezani’s work, David began to seek out other “dissidents” and came across the Natural Philosophy Alliance on the early internet. He submitted a number of papers from Dr. Carezani at their 1996 conference in Flagstaff Arizona. It was during that conference that he started getting interested in dissident physics and cosmology.

Einstein Wrong
David only attended the one NPA conference in 1996 but closely followed the group for a number of years. In the early 2000s, David was encouraged to make a documentary film about the group which he called Einstein Wrong by a colleague at an online gaming company David worked at the time. David put together a package to solicit funds from dissident scientists and got enough money for the equipment to start filming. The filming started in 2005 when he took his mother to the conference to film and talk with scientists.
In 2006, Dr. Carezani pulled out of the film David asked his dad to help out with Carezani’s graviton detecting experiment. In 2007, Robert de Hilster reported on the experiment in his first time presenting at the NPA. Little did David know that that would lead himself and his father on an historic journey of their own. David continued to attend NPA conferences, eventually becoming an officer of the group.

CNPS
After the debut of the film Einstein Wrong, the NPA was in turmoil with David and colleague Greg Volk being removed from the directorate which David was a part which led to David, Greg and 95% of the NPA organization to start a new organization named after the founder of the NPA: Dr. John Chappell. David ended up being voted the president of the Chappell Natural Philosophy Society which he is still the president today.
David organized the first CNPS conference in 2015 in their hometown of Boca Raton Florida at Florida Atlantic University. David then went on to organize CNPS conferences in Maryland, at the in Vancouver Canada, the University of Washington in Seatle, and the University of Connecticut where the majority of the NPA conferences were originally held.
David organized and led numerous CNPS in-person conferences in the late 2010s.
Dissident Science
In July of 2017, David began his Dissident Science YouTube Channel and from 2017 until 2021, he made over 300 videos. His channel has garnered over 5000 subscribers but David stopped due to the amount of time it was taking to produce his videos. He broadcasted live for the last couple of years, but did not put much time into the endeavor.
The Particle Model
2015 was a big turning point in David’s dissident science career. In 2015, David’s father was presenting a talk on gravity to David, his wife Patricia, and one of David’s friends, Robert Berger. and at the end talked about a model for light he had created just a month earlier in May.
What Robert unknowingly solves is what is known as the “wave/particle” duality of light – the fact that light sometimes acts like a way, and other times like a particle.
Below is an animation of the model for light that David’s dad had created.
Within three months after that, David had added two other particle motions along with a known motion for gravity and the father-son team published their first book together: Principia Mathematica 2. It was based on they called the “particle model” for the universe.
In 2022 on a trip back from Atlanta, David, talking with his father realized that what they discovered was not the particle model for the universe, but what David would call “The Four Universal Motions in Physics”. It is David and his father’s contention that everything in the universe can be described with these four motions.
Current Work
They are working on a website for the four motions which is still incomplete: https://fourmotions.org. His father and he are planning to rebrand the Four Universal Motions into “Reverse Engineering the Universe”.
What separates de Hilster from other artists is the combination of his natural artistic talent, his groundbreaking work in science, and his love for Brazil. From his work in AI and physics, to the love of a country where he lived and where his art exploded into color, you will find a mix of all of these things in de Hilster’s work.
If you don’t understand the man and his history, you will not understand his art. It is unique in the world.
Artist Biography
David started drawing at the age of three and by the time he was in elementary school, people were recognizing his talent. Although his drawings from his first art class in Galion Ohio at age eight have been lost, those who saw then knew David’s talent was special.
By middle school, David took his first art lesson and painted his first painting on canvas in a summer class put on by his middle school art teacher. His art teacher was doing geometric multicolored painting and David copied the style and the result prompted his teacher to write a letter David was painting at a college level.
David painted this at age 13 copying an abstract geometric style of his art teacher.
David also did musical theater covers for his high school which again showcased his talent. For the most part, David was drawing with pencil in black and white.
Explosion of Color
In 1987, David moved to Brazil where he got a job in the area of AI and computers and took a course at the famous Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro where his art exploded into color. David took life drawing classes drawing the human body. His teacher saw his talent and said he was going to unlock and explode his art into color. The instructor gave David exercises that made the transition to color a painless endeavor and the result can be seen below. David used crayons and followed the instructor’s directions changing de Hilster’s art forever.
An art teacher in Brazil broke David from his black and white realism to an explosion of color. This was the artwork that was to influence David for the next decade.
Tragedy in Rio
One of David’s teachers in Rio was leading a class in life drawing and instructed everyone to only draw in lines, no shading. David was drawing the model’s back and got bored and he started shading in the muscles. The teacher was going around critiquing the students and when he came to David, he looked at his drawing and yelled out loud “Why do some people just have it!!?” He then took his pencil, put it in this teeth and broke it from both sides and stormed off.
Weeks went by and the teacher wasn’t showing up for class with another teacher had taken his place. David asked where the regular teacher was and the new teacher said “Didn’t you hear? He jumped out his three story apartment and killed himself.” David remembered what he called the pencil incident and the news shook David to his core.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art
David returned to the United States and took some art courses and continued his explosion into color. He continued his crayon works and developed scrapings as well. Once David had a body of work, he applied to the young artists rental galleries at the Los Angeles Museum of Art, one of the most prestigious art galleries on the west coast. He was accepted and his art was immediately rented and sold. De Hilster had the distinction of having the only artist to have three people waiting for a single artwork.
Art Studio
In early 1990s, David and his wife moved to an artist loft in Long Beach California where David had his first art show. He worked in artificial intelligence during the day, and painted at night. His wife Doris opened up her first clothing store where she made a line of her own exclusive designs selling to creative types like musicians and artist. David also had his art hanging in Doris’ store – a theme that would follow them through various locations.
Doris moved to into the Long Beach Mall as did David’s artwork. When the Mall was scheduled to be torn down, Doris moved to a location in downtown Long Beach and that is where David began to sell his art. There, he sold to private collectors.
David and Doris eventually moved into a home after the birth of their daughter where David concentrated on family and his profession, leaving art aside for the time.
Florida & Wynwood
In 2015, David and family moved to Florida where David continued to do work in art, doing pencil drawings for special occasions and producing graphic art to canvas. Much of his artistic talent was used on websites, marketing material, and logos for his various endeavors.
In December of 2024, David was hired by Northeastern University at the new Miami campus as an adjunct professor which is located in the world-famous Wynwood Art district. With David in semi-retirement, he is starting to draw again and plans to resume his artwork and sell part of his private collection online.

David first started teaching in Grad school and during the last 7 years, he has been involved with mentoring high school and university students on mostly the NLP technology he helped develop. In November of 2024, David semi-retired, became an adjunct professor at a University teaching computer science, and continues his work on developing and promoting NLP++.
Student Teacher
While getting his master’s degree in Linguistics, David taught an undergraduate linguistics course at the Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio. He was a highly rated teacher and was sought after by PHD students as to what computer courses to take in the new area of computational linguistics (in the mid 1980s). David could have continued onto his PHD but decided to continue his research work as a full-time employee at Battelle Memorial Institute.
Teaching NLP in Brazil
In 1987, David quit his job, sold everything, and moved to Brazil – something he wanted to do since 1980. His reasoning was if he didn’t do it while he was still young, he would not have the chance later on.
While there, he landed a job via a University Professor Emmanuel Passos who taught at the Military Engineering Institute in Rio where David gave several talks to classes in NLP. David also gave a talk at a conference in Belem Brazil on the same subject.
David returned to the United States where he married his wife Doris and spent the next 30 years in the computer industry, mostly in AI and Natural Language Processing. During this time, he was not involved in teaching.
Mentorships
In 2015, David started working at LexisNexis Risk and there, in 2016 was moved to the HPCC Systems supercomputing group having demoed his NLP technology to one of the members of the group. While there, David started getting involved with mentoring students in robots, machine learning, and eventually, natural language processing.
The first students were students from the Robotics department at American Heritage High School involving projects related to their robotics program. The third project involved image recognition for a security robot prototype.
AI and Natural Language Processing
De Hilster proposed NLP projects in the following years as internship projects for the supercomputing group which became very popuplar, working with students from Stanford, Clemson University, University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, and RVCE University in India.
Here is a video of their projects.

During this time, David formed a stronger working relationship with two universities: Clemson University, and RVCE University in India and his work with universities became more involved.
First Masters Thesis Using NLP++
As part of a grant from LexisNexis Risk, de Hilster worked closely with master’s student Ashton Williamson on a project involving assigning codes to medical text using NLP++.
David poses with Ashton Williamson pose in Thailand who was the first graduate student to use NLP++ for their thesis.
RVCE University Workshops
David has also given various workshops remotely to RVCE University in India. The workshops have included invited talks to the computer science department, to the RVCE Coding Club, and a workshop for Credit for computer science students.
In January 2025, David was hired by Northeastern University at the new campus in Miami Florida as an adjunct professor teaching a database course to master’s students. David is to talk to startup companies about the possibility of using NLP++ in their software systems. David is part of the Multi-disciplinary Master’s Program in the school of Engineering (MGEN).
De Hilster has proposed two small NLP projects to work with students and is currently in talks with the University about doing a much larger project: NLP Blockchain.
Textbook
David is currently co-writing a Textbook entitled “Rule-Based NLP using NLP++” with NLP++ co-creator Amnon Meyers. They are publishing with the largest publisher of computer science and IT books in Asia. They hope to launch the book late 2025.
NLP Foundation
In the fall of 2025, David will lead a team of industry experts that will create the NLP Foundation, eventually designing an NLP blockchain and NLP Coin.
In 2013, David ended up in the emergency with severe chest pains. At the time, David’s first and only child Luanda was 8 years old and he didn’t want his daughter to be without a father. He was told by his doctor to take baby aspirin and fish oil and wait for his first heart attack. The doctor said his heart disease was genetic.
David didn’t want to accept that so he typed in an internet search “reverse heart disease” and the book “Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease” by Caldwell B. Esselstyn and David immediately went whole plant based – cold turkey. The transformation was remarkable.
As David tells it, it was like someone took his brain and put it into a 25-year-old body. In less than a year, David’s cholesterol dropped from 230 to 125, his allergies were gone, and all the symptoms he associated with old age disappeared. He arthritis was also almost completely reversed. And most importantly, David heart disease was gone.
David’s Story on Forks Over Knives
David story ended up on the website for Forks Over Knives. Here’s the article.
David says the reason he helps others comes from his artistic side. Artists, David says, is someone who has a truth that they must tell the world. The truth about diet is hard to find with food and drug companies hiding the facts of what in our diet is killing us.
Because of this, David has become a thought leader in the whole plant based lifestyle. At his last job, he would eat with his colleagues in a cafeteria and people became curious about what David was eating. A group of four turned into six turned into eight, and when the Covid epidemic came, the group moved online and before David retired, they were over 170 people in the whole plant based virtual monthly meeting group from around the world.
Besides helping people in general, one person’s mother reversed her diabetes 2 after 20 years, and a friend who couldn’t walk a short distance without getting out of breath, is now healthy and off many of his meds.
Here is a second in Forks Over Knives of someone David helped:
Ever since Luanda could talk, she has danced, sang, and performed. And because she was born into the middle of my documentary “Einstein Wrong – The Miracle Year” which spanned 8 years of her life, Luanda always felt at home in front of my camera.
